Authentication & Authorization

Authentication and Authorization are performed by the central Comway AAA-Server to which all Comway Hotspots have a secure encrypted connection.

Methods include

• Ad-Hoc Credit Card sessions with simple One-Page Login
• Username / Password for registered members
• Prepaid vouchers

Accounting

• Postpaid Accounting

  Most important is that the user needs not to make any decisions beforehand about how long he intends to use the Hotspot. He can use the Hotspot depending on his application and his demand. At the end he is exactly accounted for his usage. This eliminates the nuisance of unused prepaid allocations. Even if unused allocations stay usable it is still is a nuisance to carry them until returning to the Hotspot again. Comway strongly supports the postpaid system as the only method relieving the user from all such pain.

• Prepaid Accounting

  For occasions where prepaid offerings make a sense, the Comway hotspot also supports the use of prepaid vouchers. The use of hotspots can be made touchable in form of a nice card. This is suitable for hotspot marketing, promotions for hotspot use as a present etc.

Memberships

Users may register as members on Comway Hotspots. Different levels of membership, free and non-free, are tied to according discount rates. Next to the more comfortable login, this means a financial advantage for the returning user.

Payment Methods

• Credit Card

  With Comway the users can log in at the hotspot with American Express, Mastercharge and Visa and use the Internet at their discretion.

• Direct debit

  If a user is registered he can achieve access via his bank card. The registration allows for memberships with special conditions.

• Mobile-Tel-Number

  It is also possible to log in via mobile telephone number and pay with it. Especially since the Comway system simultaneously allows for accounting and charging the use of locally installed PCs it extends the potential target group of users. In lower income levels there are more mobile phones around than credit cards. This target group is the same that may not have a good computer with a good Internet connection at home and therefore is inclined to use publicly prepared PCs. It all together increases the use of hotspots.

• Monthly Account

  For companies it is very useful to account for their managers, sales forces and field services on a monthly basis. This also allows to negotiate special conditions.
